    Product Description

Irish Moss (also called Carrageen or sea moss) is primarily used as a vegan alternative to gelatin, a thickener for soups, stews and sauces and to make tea with, or even used in smoothies.

Our pouches are plastic free and use biodegradable ink! They contain only paper and are therefore recyclable and compostable.

    Taste
Irish Moss is virtually tasteless as it is air dried and sun bleached, but has a mildly sweet odour.

    About the Producer
At the Cornish Seaweed Company we have been harvesting seaweed since 2012. Born out of a love for life and the ocean, a belief in healthy and tasty food, we are a rapidly growing enterprise forming a team of over 10 dedicated seaweeders.

With the clean and wild Cornish coast as our playground, we scour its rocky shores in search for the highest quality seaweeds. All of which are harvested, washed, dried and packaged by hand, ensuring the highest quality using artisanal practices.

Our aim is to provide you with an honest superfood; sustainably harvested, local, edible seaweeds and to introduce these as an alternative food source that is healthy, nutritional, tasty and good for the environment.

A high quality product and sustainability, in our eyes one does not come without the other. These two core business values guide us forward and help us produce the highest quality seaweeds, now and into the future.

    Prep & usage

To create a jelly, boil a small handful of leaves for 20-30 minutes in 1 liter of water. Most of the seaweed will dissolve. Push the rest through a sieve and scrape the gelatinous parts that have come through the sieve. Only when you let it cool down will it become thick.

To make tea with, follow above instructions and add a tea bag of your favourite tea. Alternatively, simply add cloves, cinnamon, star anise and/or some honey to help against a chesty cough.

For soups, stews and sauces, simply add a handful of Irish Moss whilst cooking.
