Having first met while doing the school runs, Aline and Deena hit it off immediately. Bonded by their Asian roots and Western upbringings, they discovered they both shared a passion for Asian fruits. As mums, they were constantly on the lookout for healthy and tasty snacks options for their children, while encouraging them to try different flavours & textures.
The lack of dried exotic fruit was quite apparent and they felt it was a gap that had to be filled. Nearly 2 years in the making, Kooky launched in July 2021 with a mission to make exotic fruits more available and more affordable to a wider consumer group.
Their fruit selection is pretty unique; 100% natural, absolutely nothing added, vegan and gluten-free. The fruits went through extensive lab-testing for a series of vitamins and minerals. They are the 1st brand to introduce dried mangosteen to the UK, also called 'Queen of the fruit', known to be a favourite of Queen Victoria! All the fruits are sourced from the best ethical and sustainable farms in Thailand, which adhere to humanitarian guidelines. The fruits are dried into Kooky fruits using renewable energy.
Kooky is also member of 1% for the planet. Through the peculiar visual and tastes of exotic fruits, they aim at promoting curiosity for lesser known things. They firmly believe in the strength, beauty and creativity that is born from diversity, while teaching their children to value their unique DNA and to be proud of their heritage. They also believe in the importance of empowering others.
