Our Story

Foodservice Direct is the marketplace name for Thomas Ridley & Son Ltd, based in Suffolk. We have been trading for over 300 years, starting out in 1808 when a Fenland farmer, named Thomas Ridley, purchased the Abbeygate Street grocery shop in Bury St Edmunds.

Nowadays, Thomas Ridley are one of the UK’s leading independent family-owned foodservice businesses, distributing thousands of restaurant quality food and drink products nationwide. We work in partnership with many local artisan producers situated across the East and the South East of England, championing their unique and high quality product offerings.
