When in Rome Wine

When in Rome Wine

Forget everything you know (or think you know) about box wine. Our great-tasting wine is one of Italy's best kept secrets. Made by small, independent producers - this is craft wine at its finest.

Country folk in Italy like to visit their local winery with a refillable container - fill it with wine, take it home, decant and enjoy. At When in Rome, we put high quality, authentic wines like these into boxes and bring them to the UK. It's cheaper and better for the environment.

Our Story

MADE BY SMALL PRODUCERS
You know how craft beer makers ooze enthusiasm for what they do? It's the same with our wine producers. Only they've been making beautiful Italian craft wine for generations.

BOXED IN THE VINEYARD
Once the wine is ready, our boxes are filled straight from the vat. Box wine is around 30% cheaper to produce and 50% cheaper to ship than wine in bottles - so at When in Rome, you're paying for high quality craft wine and not packaging.

BROUGHT HERE BY TRAIN
Each journey starts in Verona when around 1,800 boxes - equivalent to around 12,000 bottles of wine - begin a seven day journey across Italy, into France and through the Channel Tunnel.

STRAIGHT TO YOU
Once opened wine stays fresh for up to six weeks. La Mezza boxes will fit snugly inside your fridge door and when you're done the box can be recycled (we're working on the bag).
