At The Seaweed Food Co. we carefully select and hand pick seaweeds from the beaches of Guernsey to make delicious and healthy food seasonings.

Our Story

Ben and Naomi started The Seaweed Food Co. in 2020 after Ben set up Guernsey Seaweed in 2018 producing fertiliser and then a hand sanitiser in 2020. We wondered what else could be made with seaweed, which is abundant on the Guernsey coastline, and considered how to start eating it.

After lots of experiments and good feedback from friends and family we launched with our Seaweed Salt and Herby Seaweed Seasoning which are a great way to start eating seaweed and adding umami flavour to your meals.

We have a range of customers - those who have found a new love for cooking during the lockdowns and we love seeing the photographs of what they have made and also those who aren't the best cooks but like good tasting food and they sprinkle it on everything!

The temperatures and clean water around the island of Guernsey provide a perfect environment for seaweed and the beautiful scenery makes our job of hand collecting seaweed one of the best! These 'sea vegetables' are full of vitamins, minerals and trace elements (it's good for you!) and gives a special umami taste to your food. What more could you ask for?
