Barbers Bean To Bar is a family run business that specialise in craft bean to bar chocolate.
Michael started his culinary career in Birmingham over 10 years ago, from training at passitire collage to working in a Soho inspired bakery and other fine dining establishments. With most recently working as the head pastry lecture, in a leading cookery school in South Devon.
During this time, Michael realised and learnt there is so much more to chocolate, than the generic: white, milk and dark chocolates. By stripping back the product to great quality beans. You can make chocolate with such complex flavours, not unlike fine wine or coffee. We are passionate about sourcing fairly traded coco beans from organic farms.
We love all of our chocolates and teas, but we have a special place for the Peruvian Dark Milk Bar, because it blends the dark and milk chocolate with such elegance. That we know milk and dark chocolate lovers will enjoy this bar as much as we do. It is the best of both worlds.
What makes us different to most chocolate makers, is that we favour a slightly lighter roast, which allows more of the natural flavours to stay inside the bar of chocolate. We have found a way of taking away the bitterness of the dark chocolate, so more of the floral, fruity notes can stand out. We have done this by not adding any extra cocoa butter to our mix and adding a tiny bit more sugar.
All of our beans are from fairly traded organic farms, which pay more than the average stock exchange rate. To give the farms a good income and a better life. Our sugar is completely natural and of the best quality. It is 100% unrefined. Our packaging is 100% recyclable and plastic free. Even down to the potato starch glue that holds the outer sleeve together.
Our products are for foodies, who respect and love the art of quality artisan products.
